We hate saying “No” to a customer or potential customer. It one thing to run out of a menu item, but not carrying something is another matter entirely. So finally after a few weeks of being asked for a gluten free crêpe we now have one available.
Whatever the reason, it is apparent that products without gluten are needed to satisfy a portion of our customer base. So this week we have added a GF batter to our lineup. It is not merely adding the batter, we needed a complete with a separate set of bowls, spatulas, crêpe trowels and other tools of the trade, and a process to ensure that things stay separate. Including separate storage for the products to avoid any cross-contamination.
Few takers so far, but the crêpe tastes pretty good and is of good quality. It has been suggest that a larger sign would be helpful, as many people do not expect us to have a GF product.
It may be the ingredients or the limited amount of production, but the batter is more expensive so we are forced to have an additional charge. As the word gets out hopefully we will be able to bring the cost down. At least now folks can enjoy a delicious crêpe.
