On March 8th, 2011, we sold our first crêpe at the Silverton Tuesday Market. We made 6 crêpes that night. After 5 months of planning, purchasing, testing and practicing we were over the moon that people bought our crêpes and liked them! We were very happy. I recall champagne…
This Wednesday, July 27th, 2011, at the Salem Wednesday Farmers Market sometime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., we will sell our 5,000th crêpe. We think that is a really big number.
Our guests at our crêpe booth are some of the nicest people. We wish we had a big budget, give away a hot air ballon ride, a trip to Britanny, a crepe griddle. Alas, we don’t.
So we’re going to say Thank You, give the lucky person their order for free, and throw in an Oregon Crêpe Company Coffee mug, and a Salem Farmers Market shopping bag. And then we will start in on crêpe #5001, and do our best to make that as great a crêpe as the one before it, and the one after that.
Yes, there will be staff champagne that evening!
Aftermarket Update — July 27th
During the morning we were telling everyone about our big news. All were supportive and we were really pleased with how many people had read the article in the Statesman Journal. As the morning went on people kept hoping and we were getting excited too!
A little before noon, Craig and Janet of Salem ordered crêpes – an Artichoke crêpe with Rogue Creamery’s Oregonzola cheese and a Raspberry Jam dessert crêpe. Those were 5,000 and 5,001. They were excited to win the Salem market bag, an Oregon Crêpe Coffee Cup, and a special prize — their very own crêpe trowel. They, the staff and the rest of the folks in line received a glass of cranberry sparkling cider. And then life went on and we made a lot more crêpes.
Now it is time for our glass of champagne as we toast our providers of incredible ingredients, our families and friends, and our of course our dear dear customers that wait while we do our best to make their crêpe. We love to cook, and it is a privilege and an honor to do so for you.
